Commander Kit Amolsch handed out certificates to each World War II veteran in the audience.
After the award ceremony, attendees viewed the World War II Memorial Washington D.C. dedication ceremonies on the post's big screen television.
Amolsch said an average of 1,053 World War II veterans die each day. He said recognizing them locally and with the national memorial is so important.
"It's just time that we honor them," he said.
