Floyd A. Matley

Floyd A. Matley, of Cottonwood, died Oct. 2, 2005. He was 69 years old. He was born on June 3, 1936, in Prescott to Amos and Inez Matley.

Mr. Matley attended Prescott High School and later went on to the Air Force in the Korean War. His hobbies included collecting cowboy memorabilia and gambling for fun.

Mr. Matley leaves sons Gary Matley, of Cottonwood, and Dan Matley, of Chandler; daughter Brenda Strauss, of Glendale; and a sister Lois Pemberton, of Camp Verde. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at Westcott Funeral Home.

Ray Jaurique Mejia

Jerome native Ray Jaurique "Monchie" Mejia died Sept. 17 in Phoenix.

He was 68 years old.

Mr. Mejia is survived by his wife, Francis "Pili" Mejia; sons Ramon, Jock, Abel and Nathan Mejia; a daughter, Crystal Thomas; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecilio and Sebastian Jaurique Mejia; a daughter, Jacqueline Mejia; and a grandson, Colby Mejia.

A memorial service for Mr. Mejia will take place Oct. 15, 11 a.m., at the Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood.
