Looking good for the holidays
New grooming shop sure to leave Happy Tails
Some of Carla and Celina Kleck's customers come in scared or nervous and have no idea what to expect. That's why the two owners stress the importance of patience when dealing with there furry clients.
Happy Trails Grooming has opened its doors in Cottonwood to all breeds of dogs and cats.
"The most important part of this job is patience," Carla said. "I've got the utmost respect for every grooming shop in town. It's not an easy job."
She said challenges can arise when the pets come in nervous.
"Take your time, go slow with them," said Carla. "By knowing when the dog has had enough, and respecting that limit, you gain the dogs trust over time."
In addition to dogs, Celina offers cat grooming.
"Most cats have a hard time keeping themselves clean, and most owners find it too difficult to regularly wash their cat and comb out long hair," Celina said.
The cat grooming service includes bathing, shaving long hair and combing and drying the hair.
Oh, and of course a bow or bandana.
Every pet gets either a bow or a bandana once the grooming is complete.
The Klecks also leave dog treats on the counter for owners to use as a reward if they want.
Carla has 13 years experience and Celina has four. Both previously worked at the Canine Country Club.
Through the cumulative 17 years at the country club, the two became known by many pet owners. There clients come from Sedona, Cottonwood, Camp Verde and Prescott, they said.
Prices are $16 to $18 for a small dog bath and brush. A haircut costs $24 to $26 depending on the size and cut. From now until the end of the month, they are offering a $2 discount on all services.
Happy Trails Grooming opens at 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments are recommended. Walk ins are encouraged to show up in the morning.
