Cowboys beat Williams, Rough Rock and Red Mesa
The Cowboys had a winning week last week, besting three teams starting with Williams on Tuesday. Rough Rock followed on Thursday as Camp Verde outscored and outplayed them, 69-55. On Friday, the Cowboys continued to dominate, beating their next opponent, Red Mesa, 63-49.
Camp Verde came out a little slow at first against Rough Rock, but quickly found their pace and the basket as they outscored their opponent, 9-5 in the first quarter. The Cowboys extended that lead in the second by scoring 21 to Rough Rock's 13.
In the third quarter Camp Verde didn't let up and scored 25 points. It wasn't until the fourth quarter, which Rough Rock outscored Camp Verde 23-14 that there was any loss of intensity throughout the game on the Cowboys' side.
Red Mesa served to be quite an opponent for the Cowboys, but a huge jump start in the first quarter by Camp Verde sealed Red Mesa's fate and a win for the Cowboys.
Brian Ream led the scoring with 21 points, followed by Matt Freeman with 15 and Ricardo Pacheco with 11.
Camp Verde overpowered their opponent, 20-8 in the first quarter, and extended that lead by two after the second. In the third quarter and fourth quarters, Red Mesa chipped away at the lead but was never able to come back as the Cowboys stayed tough on defense and got the win.
Camp Verde will be on the road Thursday as they take on St. Johns. Game time is 7 p.m.
