James Sturgeon

James Sturgeon, 89, of Cottonwood, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006. He was born Jan. 25, 1917, to Omer and Myrtle Sturgeon in English, Ind., where he grew up and graduated English High School.

Professionally, he worked as a baker in the Fry's Bakery in Phoenix.

He leaves behind his sons, Tony (Welthy) of Cottonwood, and James Jr.; his daughters, Nikki and Mary; his brothers, Robert and Lee; nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Joan C. Weeks

Joan Catherine Weeks, 66, of Clarkdale, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006. She was born Jan. 14, 1940, in Twisp, Wash., to Charles Taylor and Mary Katherine (Hall) Sheppard.

Joan was a high school graduate. While living in Alaska, she was a volunteer at the Providence Hospital in Anchorage and wrote columns for the Anchorage Daily Times. She was also involved in Hypno-therapy.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking, writing, and gardening. She spent time on the keyboard, as she loved music and voice. Joan also loved nature.

She leaves behind her husband of 46 years, Bill Weeks of Clarkdale; her son, Sam Shoemaker (Mary) of Gwin, Mich.; her daughters, Carrie Weeks of La Mesa, Calif., Christina Weeks and Catherine Weeks, both of San Diego; her sisters, Patti Lewis (Russ) of Kingman, Deana Wagner (Bob) of Donnelly, Idaho, Linda Boots of Alliance, Neb., and Peggy Martly (Bob) of Castle Rock, Wyo.; as well as, her step-son, Bill Weeks Jr., and five grandchildren.

A Memorial Service is planned for the spring of 2007.
