Darold D. Hayden

Darold D. Hayden, 70, of Clarkdale, died Sept. 30, 2006. He was the husband of Norma R. Hayden. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 5, 5-7 p.m., in the Westcott Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 6, in the Evangel Worship Center at 2 p.m.

Tiny Murphy

Long-time Sedona resident Dawson C. (Tiny) Murphy died Sept. 23, 2006.

Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his father, Charles C. Murphy. He is survived by his mother, Marie G. Murphy; his son, Shawn Murphy; his two daughters Erina Koch and Kelly Murphy; and one granddaughter.

Services for Mr. Murphy will be on Sunday, Oct. 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For additional information regarding services, please contact Shawn Murphy at 204-6421.

Henry C. Johnson

Henry C. Johnson III, 78, of Camp Verde, died Sept. 30, 2006. He was born June 19, 1928, in Warwick, RI, the son of Henry C. Johnson, Jr., and Alice V. Walker.

He was a graduate of North Kingston High School. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the Army during the Korean War, serving with the 27th Infantry and the 430th Engineer Construction Battalion, Tropical Lighting. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and several other citations.

He was an accomplished horseman, hunter and an award-winning chicken breeder.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria B. Johnson; two sons Henry C. Johnson IV (Mikki) of Camp Verde and Roger D. Johnson of Rimrock; two daughters, Jennifer A. Clark (Michael) of Kingman and Jill Audrey Stephens (Chad) of Bellingham, Wash.; two brothers, David D. Johnson (Elaine) and Russell Johnson (Shirley), all of North Kingston, Rhode Island; a sister Bernice Pucella of North Kingston, R.I.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 5, in the Valley View Cemetery at 10 a.m.

Katie Richards

Katie Marie Richards, 78, of Glendale, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006. Kate was born in Blanket, Texas, on Nov. 27, 1927.

She graduated from Jerome High School in 1946, and married Ernie Richards Jan. 18, 1948, in Camp Verde. Ernie preceded her in death in January 1997. She was in the process of writing a book about her life, titled, "I Married a Cowboy."

Kate is survived by her son, Ron Richards with his wife Beverly of Glendale; her daughter, Karen Zinser and her husband Russ of Encinitas, Calif.; her brother, Jud Porter with his wife Mary of Denver; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are to be held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 6 at the Clear Creek Cemetery in Camp Verde.

In lieu of flowers, contributions will be accepted at the Clear Creek Cemetery, c/o Audry Parker, P.O. Box 622, Camp Verde, Arizona 86322.

Kathleen Mitchell

Kathleen Mitchell, 79, of Camp Verde, formerly of Lake Montezuma, died Oct. 2, 2006. Kathleen was born July 29, 1927, in Tipton, Okl., to the late Sid and Daisy Horton.

Kathleen was married to the late Gene D. Mitchell. She loved antiques; many may remember her store, Red Garter Antiques in Lake Montezuma. Kathleen was a vibrant lady who loved life; this is evident by her favorite color being red. Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Deborah Lakin of San Diego; her son Steve Mitchell of Grants, New Mexico; her sisters, Jean Heath of Amarillo, Texas and Jenny Kerr of Placentia, California; three grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at the chapel of Bueler Funeral Home, 143 Arnold Street in Camp Verde. Burial will follow at Middle Verde Cemetery. Bueler Funeral Home assisted the family.
