Walter Michalowski Jr., 1935-2007
Mr. Walter Michalowski Jr., 71, son of the late Walter and Wanda (Grabowski) Michalowski was born on Dec. 25, 1935, in Scranton, Pa. He died March 29, 2007, at his home in Pineville, Mo.
Walt was raised in New York City and was a 1959 graduate of NYU, earning his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. On Sept. 10, 1959, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Luxemburg, Germany. After his honorable discharge he returned to New York City.
Walt lovingly raised his family in Indianapolis, Ind., where he was employed by Western Electric. In 1984 after the merger with AT&T he transferred to St. Louis, Mo. He retired in January 1989 after 27 years of service. On Jan. 15, 1996, he married Jacque L. Nelson and together they shared the last 11 years. In 1997 he and Jacque moved to Cottonwood, and in 2005 they made the move to Pineville, Mo.
Walt is survived by his wife Jacque; two sons, David Michalowski Sr. (Petra), of Leesville, La., and Stephan Michalowski (Anahi), of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Jennifer Winkler (Tony), of Pingree Grove, Ill.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Michalowski are 4 p.m. Sunday, April 1, in the Anderson chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Chaplain Mike Funderburgh officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Monday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Mo. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are his beloved family, Jacque Nelson, David Michalowski Sr, Stephan Michalowski, Jennifer Winkler, Tony Winkler and David Michalowski Jr.
