Harold L. Whitley, 1926-2007

Harold L. Whitley, 81, of Camp Verde, died March 28.  

He was born Feb. 27, 1926, in Solomonville, Ariz., to the late William A. and Ostia Sybil (Shelton) Whitley.

Harold served our country in the US Navy during World War II.  Harold worked as a heavy equipment engineer and helped build many Arizona roads. 

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kay  (Sharp) Whitley of Camp Verde; five sons, Norman Cooper of Buckeye, Joseph Cooper of Mesa, Douglas Cooper of Georgia, Harold Whitley Jr. of California and William Whitley also of California; three daughters, Deborah Bails of Glendale, Meichel Coates of Glendale and Margaret Whitley of Alaska; a brother, Rae Whitley of Yuma; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He is preceded by his parent, a brother, William Whitley and son, James Whitley and a granddaughter, Monica Bails.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at the Camp Verde Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 530 South 5th St., Camp Verde, with Bishop Clifford Finch officiating.
