AIHA honors Cougars goalie
Last weekend in Prescott was the last of the tournament series for the Cottonwood Cougars Roller Hockey Team.
As the tournament wrapped up, the President of the AIHA, Dean Korussel, announced that the league had a few honors to mentioned for the players. The league selects one player from each age division to receive the AIHA / AAU Sportsmanship Award. In the 16 and under division they announced Cottonwood Cougars Goalie, Chris Decker, as the winner.
"If the league offered a team sportsmanship award, hands down it would have been the Cottonwood Cougars," stated AIHA President Dean Korussel. "This team showed integrity throughout the whole series, each and every player on this team has made huge improvements."
The Cougars will now focus and prepare themselves for the AIHA State Championships which is being held May 11-13 at Bladeworld in Tucson.
"We would like to thank the Cottonwood community for all their generous donations and support which has made entering this State Championship possible for these players. For our first year playing in tournaments, this team really stood out and made an impression on the league," said Candi Yatsinko, team assistant. "Next year we'll be even better."
