Spots still available for V Bar V Ranch Explorers Day
Spots are still available for the annual University of Arizona V Bar V Ranch Explorers Day, to be Saturday, Aug. 25.
Ranch Explorers Day is a fun and educational day held at Mahan Park, a green meadow in the pines on the V Bar V Ranch near Happy Jack. Buses transport participants from Prescott and Camp Verde to the V Bar V to learn about ranching, and to enjoy a V Bar V Ranch beef barbecue lunch with fresh-from-the-coals Dutch oven cobbler for dessert.
This year, Ranch educators will present information on the breeds and uses of cattle, and representatives from the Department of Equine Sciences at the University of Arizona will present information on the breeds and uses of horses.
Other activities for the day will include demonstrations of cattle handling on horseback, milking cows, and Dutch oven cooking, plus there will be opportunities to play ranch games and ride in an authentic stage coach.
Cost to attend Ranch Explorers Day is $20 for adults and $12 for students, and includes lunch and bus transportation to the Ranch from Camp Verde or Prescott.
To register or for more information call the V Bar V Ranch office in Cottonwood at 646-9113, ext. 12, or e-mail your name, address, and phone number to email@example.com. A registration form is also available at http://ag.arizona.edu/aes/vbarv/ranchexplorersday.html.
