Morey R. Doty

Morey R. Doty, 81, of Cottonwood, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007. He was born Jan. 31, 1926, in Findlay, Ohio, to Harry and Hazel (Love) Doty.

Morey served during World War II in the United States Army as a Tec 5 Surgical Technician. He then worked for Bechtel Construction Company, in San Francisco, Calif., until his retirement.

Morey and his wife, Louise, moved to Cottonwood in 1999. Morey was a member of the Verde Valley Christian Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Emily Ann Doty; son, David J. Doty; and brother-in-law, Robert Kemerly. He leaves behind his wife, Louise; son, Dan (Clare) Doty of Phoenix; daughter, Cynthia Jo (Jeff) Hammond of St. John, Ariz.; two sisters, Annabelle (Herman) Campbell and Marilyn Kemerly; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at Verde Valley Christian Church. Once date and time are confirmed it will be posted on the Cottonwood Ranch Clubhouse bulletin board.

Jesse A. Valdez

Jesse A. Valdez, 76, of Cottonwood, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007. He was born Oct. 2, 1930, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Herlindo and Isabel (Chavela) Valdez.

Jesse worked for Menasco Overhaul Division in Burbank, Calif.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Valdez; and his son, Daniel V. Valdez. Jesse leaves behind his son, Mark V. Valdez of California; two daughters, Valerie M. Valdez of California and Valda V. Valdez of Arizona; 14 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.

A private family service was held Feb. 3 at American Legion Post 25.

Walter Rehborg

Walter Rehborg, 84, resident of Cottonwood, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007 in Prescott. He was born April 26, 1922, to William and Ella Rehborg in Gwinner, North Dakota, where he spent his childhood and attended the local schools.

Walter served during World War II in the United States Navy as a Ships Cook Second Class. He worked as a marble sawyer with Falk Corporation and was self-employed as a carpenter, owning and operating Rehborg's Carpenter Service.

Walter leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Ruth Rehborg of Cottonwood; his six sons, Larry (Sandra ) of Arizona, Danny (Suzanne) of Minnesota, Steven (Caroline) of Wisconsin, Richard (Julianne) of Wisconsin, Jonathan (Tamara) of Wisconsin, and David (Wendy) of Arizona; his two daughters, Anita (Roger) Sachs and Nancy (Benard) Brellentine, all of Wisconsin; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. in Cottonwood at the Peace Lutheran Church, where Walter was proud to be a member.

Roberta Harlene Patrick

Roberta Harlene Patrick, 60, resident of Rimrock, died on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, in Camp Verde.

She was born April 9, 1946, in Astoria, Ore., to Robert Alexander and Katherine Harlene (Sleutel) Patrick.

She attended Biola University and obtained her degree in Primary Education. She then taught at the Hawaii State School.

Locally, Roberta worked at Rainbow Acres, dedicating more than 30 years to ensuring a quality and dignified lifestyle for the mentally handicapped and developmentally disabled adults.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Kay. She leaves behind two brothers, F.A. (Alice) Patrick of Lakeside, Calif., and John R. (Ted) Patrick of Placentia, Calif.; and sister, Katherine Wright of Coos Bay, Ore.
