Junior C. Johnson

Junior Clark Johnson, 72, of Cottonwood, died Jan. 1, 2007. He was born March 18, 1934, to Harry and Leona (Godwin) Johnson in Parsons, W.Va., where he grew up and graduated from Tucker County High School.

Junior proudly served his country as a technician sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a satellite controller in civilian space with General Electric.

Junior leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Joyce M. Johnson of Cottonwood; his daughters, Elaine LeCours of Parsons, W.Va., Debbie Johnson of Ridgely, Md., Julie Johnson-Kershaw of Ormond Beach, Fla., Leiann Small (Wesley), of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Chandra Thomas (Brett) of Camp Verde; as well as five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood, today, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m.

Guadalupe 'Lupe' P. Macias

Guadalupe "Lupe" P. Macias, 85, of Cottonwood, died Jan. 1, 2007. She was born in Mexico on Feb. 13, 1920, to Romaldo and Bonifacia (Medina) Perez.

Lupe was married to the late Lupe G. Macias. She was once named "Grandmother of the Year." She was also a member of both the Hispanic Choir and the Legion of Mary with the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas Macias (Mary), of Superior, and Richard Macias (Kristan), of Cottonwood; her daughter, Martha Velazquez (Ernesto), of Mesa; her sister, Lucy Mondragon of Tepic, Mexico; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Thursday.

Mary Jo Clift

Mary Jo Clift, 65, died Dec. 27, 2006, in Phoenix. She was a resident of Camp Verde. She was born April 27, 1941, in Riverton, Wyo., the daughter of Milford Hedglin and Lucy Tschacher Hedglin White. She attended school in Riverton and graduated in 1959.

On July 11, 1958, she married Donald Leo Clift in Riverton. The family moved to Sidney, Neb., in 1965 and then to Camp Verde in 1997. She retired from Sidney Memorial Hospital as a Certified Nurses Assistant, and was working at the Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood as a patient care technician.

She is survived by her husband Donald Clift; daughter Dawnne Linenbrink or Eugene, Ore.; son Craig Clift of Forest Grove, Ore.; sisters Eileen Wythe of Homer, Ala., Marlene Canada of Texarkana, Texas, and Donna Romero of Riverton, Wyo.; brothers Pudgy Hedglin of Henderson, Nev., and Willis Hedglin of Riverside, Calif; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at St. Margaret's Catholic Church on July 11 in Riverton, Wyo., followed by a celebration of life gathering in Dubois, Wyo.

Thelma G. Allain

Thelma G. Allain, 70, died Dec. 31, 2006, at her home in Camp Verde. She was born Jan. 4, 1936, in Sault Saint Marie, Mich.

She moved to Arizona 50 years ago and worked for Valley National Bank for 20 years.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Allain, Sr., of Camp Verde; her son, Dennis Brasser; a brother, Wayne Fisher; and six stepchildren.

Graveside services were Jan. 4 at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.

Bueler Funeral Home assisted the family.
