Council to consider airport commission appointments
The City of Cottonwood has received a number of applications for the Cottonwood Airport Commission. Deadline day for application submittal was yesterday. The City Council will consider appointing members to the commission at its regular meeting June 5.
The establishment of the commission was approved at the beginning of this month to provide the City Council with knowledgeable suggestions regarding airport operations and help take some of the load off city employees, who spend many hours on aviation matters.
The commission will be made up of seven voting members, five of which shall "be tenants/lessees of the Cottonwood Municipal Airport, or shall have a working knowledge of aviation matters," and two members shall be from the general public - not required to be tenants or have such knowledge, according to the ordinance. The two general public members are, however, required to live within Cottonwood city limits.
City Clerk Marianne Jimenez said that by early Friday afternoon, she had a stack of applications more than seven for council consideration.
