Take me out to the ball game
Verde Valley Little League just recently completed the 2007 regular season. We will now be sending six All Star teams to represent us in the various District 10, baseball and softball tournaments. We would like to wish these boys, girls, and coaches the best of luck as they battle the other area Little Leagues for the chance to represent us in the state tournaments.
I would like to take a moment to thank all those who made 2007 a great Little League season.
To Richard Faust and the Parks and Recreation staff, the City of , and the numerous contractors and workers who have donated countless hours and dollars, thanks for the new fields. While it's still a work in progress, we were finally able to play some games there this year and the kids loved it. When completed, Cottonwood will have one of the nicest youth baseball and softball facilities in the state of Arizona. Our kids deserve it.
To our volunteer umpires. Thanks for all the time and dedication to our youth. Umpiring isn't always the easiest job so we really respect your commitment. Especially when your only pay is a bottle of water and a candy bar. We truly appreciate what you do.
To our managers and coaches. These are the hardest working volunteers in the league. Thanks for teaching all these kids how to play baseball and softball. Most importantly, you teach sportsmanship as well as being a friend and mentor to the kids in our community. You do a great job.
To our league parents. Thanks for making the commitment, and taking the time, to allow your kids to play Little League. We know how difficult it is when you have a T-ball game, softball practice, and a majors game all taking place at dinner time on a school night. The parents of the Verde Valley have always stepped up to help each other out, and somehow, we always seem to pull it off. Thanks for being great parents and great fans.
Most importantly, thanks to the boys and girls of Verde Valley Little League. You are the reason all of the people listed above do what they do. They truly enjoy umpiring, coaching, and watching you play baseball and softball. Remember to keep throwing and hitting during the off season. We look forward to seeing you, next year, on the ball field. Opening day is April 5, 2008.
