On Nov. 26, 2006, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office was called to an armed robbery that occurred at the Chase Bank in the Village of Oak Creek.
The victim in the case was threatened and assaulted by a man carrying a knife while the victim was depositing money into the night depository. The victim was not harmed but the suspect fled with the money pouch and left the area in a blue passenger car. At the time of the incident, bank security cameras caught images of the suspect on tape.
On Wednesday, March 7, an extensive investigation led sheriff's detectives to Jose Alejandro Escarcega Cota, 29, of Lake Montezuma. He is charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. It is believed that Cota drove the getaway vehicle.
