Cortez 'Corky' Oxendale 1914 - 2007

Cortez "Corky" Oxendale, 93, of Cottonwood, died Oct. 6, 2007, in Phoenix.  She was born June 21, 1914, in Mills City, Texas, to Jesse Ferguson and Lucretia Melvina (Ward) Atchison.

Corky had an extensive doll collection, and she enjoyed arts and crafts. She was a member of the Clarkdale Women's Club and a member of the Verde Baptist Church for 27 years.

After the death of her first husband, William Ash, she married Roy Oxendale. 

Corky leaves behind her second husband of 28 years, Roy Oxendale of Cottonwood; three sons, Billy (Carmen) of Clarkdale, Lewis Ash (Beth) of Powell, Ohio, and Ronnie Ash (Millie) of Phoenix; two step-daughters, Mary Slevert (Scott) of Chandler, and Jane Strong (Craig) of Prescott Valley; two step-sons, Tom Oxendale (Pam), of Cottonwood, and Rob Oxendale (Denise), of Peoria; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will take place at the Verde Baptist Church in Cottonwood on Saturday, Oct. 13, 1 p.m.; with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m.  

Corky will be laid to rest at Green Acres Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale.
