Jerry 'Leonard' Zellner 1935 - 2007

Jerry "Leonard" Zellner Sr., 72, died at home surrounded by his family Sept. 2, 2007. He was born in Young, Ariz., at home on April 8, 1935, to the late Daniel Garrett and Elizabeth Sara Jane Foster Zellner. He was the youngest of nine children.

Jerry "Leonard" worked in the Operating Engineers, and then went on to logging for his brother Joe Zellner, and running his own business, Zellner's Firewood and Canyon Firewood Supply for the last 45 years.

He got a kick out of his business card that states, "The Founder and Still the Boss" of Canyon wood Supply. He had not retired yet and couldn't stay away from the work, the men, and the daily camaraderie between everyone on the wood yard. He loved the wood business and took great pride in his accomplishments.

He married Sophronia Ellen Teague on July 12, 1956. This year they celebrated their 51st anniversary.

He was the father of Debora Lynn Pilant, Teresa May Proper, Patsy Ellen Zellner, and Jerry Leonard Zellner Jr.; and grandpa to 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today, Sept. 5, at the Yavapi Apache Recreation Center in Middle Verde. A reception is to follow at Campo De Ensueno, turn on Camp Lincoln Road across from the elementary school. The family requests your presence to celebrate his life. Bueler Funeral Home assisted the family.
