Marauders struggle vs. Bears

The Mingus Union baseball team finished out the first half of the Grand Canyon Region schedule with a loss at home against the Bradshaw Mountain Bears, 9-6.
The Marauders controlled the game until the top of the fifth inning when the Bears took advantage of opportunities and got timely hits to score eight runs and jump ahead 9-2.
The Marauders scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 9-4 and held the Bears scoreless for the remainder of the game, while tacking on a run in each of the final two innings, but wasn't able to catch up after the damaging inning.
Trevor Sanderlin started on the mound and was relieved after four innings by Hunter Zwart. At the plate, Sanderlin went 1-for-2 with two walks, Logan Stewart went 1-for-2 with an RBI, Garrett MacDonald went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Ty Meacham and Hunter Zwart both went 1-for-4.
Supplying the power were Tony Vocca who had a homerun and two RBIs and Justin Schultz who went 1-for-1 with three walks, a homerun, two RBIs.
The Marauders are 5-0 in conference play and 16-7 overall. The Marauders will try to even up the score on Thursday when they take on the Page Sand Devils at home at 3:30 p.m. The last time these two teams played, Page defeated the Marauders 9-4 in the Conference opener.
