Philip 'George' Chambon 1926 - 2008

Philip "George" Chambon, 81, of Cottonwood, died Aug. 13, 2008. He was the son of Philip and Margaret (Gregel) Chambon, born Sept. 11, 1926, in Tarentum, Pa.

George grew up in Pennsylvania and served his country during World War II with the Army Air Corps. He met and married Violet Ruth in 1944. Only two weeks before his death, George and Violet had moved to Cottonwood to reside with their daughter, Linda Lee Chambon-Gay.

George is survived by his wife of 64 years, Violet Ruth; sons Philip George II (Deana) of Christmas, Fla; Daniel Patrick (Dianne) of Glendale; Terrance Gregel (Kathy) of Tarentum, Pa.; Timothy Michael (Mary Jo) of Natrona Heights, Pa.; Julius Francis (Chong Cha) of Tarentum, Pa. and Reno, Nev.; Earl Spence Duncan (Robin) of Dallas, Texas; and daughters Linda Lee Chambon-Gay of Cottonwood; Gwendolyn Marie (Bill) Case of Vancouver, Wash.; Margaret Mary "Pegi" (John) Woodman of Brakenridge, Pa.; Deborah Lynn (David) of Freeport, Pa; 27 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren; also a sister Mary Elizabeth Petit of Sarver, Pa.

George was a life member in the American Legion, VFW, Eagles and the Elks.

A memorial service will be held at Immaculate Conception Church Tuesday Aug. 19, at 10:30 a.m., 700 Bill Gray Road, Cottonwood. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Cottonwood. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Immaculate Conception Church Act Fund.
