Gas prices plummet in Cornville
Gas prices went below the $2 barrier in the Verde Valley for the first time this week ... in Cornville.
Mike and Elisa Anderson own KC's Corner at the corner of Page Springs and Cornville Roads.
"I can't speak for the other vendors, but I am an unbranded station and pay a higher rate for my gas. I can sell it at $1.99 and still make a profit. I don't have to make a killing. Times are tough and people need a break on their gas."
"I am confused myself why the gas prices are so high in the Verde Valley," says Mike
Besides, he has other plans. "I don't want to support oil companies. It is easier to tear it down. One gas station in Cornville is enough. We want to make it more of a location, more of a local market along with the restaurant, like Casey did 50 years ago."
He says he plans to make KC's more of a gathering place in the center of Cornville. "I have a source for local eggs locally raised, beef, Arizona wines and a lot of people like the produce. All employees have kids."
Clerks at the store say the gas business has been brisk.
