Meet the Artists

Dec. 18

Celebrate the season and meet the artists at Beaver Creek Book Store and Gallery, 545 S. Main St., Camp Verde.

The Christmas party from 6 to 9 p.m. is also a continuing celebration of the coming together of the book store and the Artisans Gallery.

This is a good time to see the new space, meet the artists and participate in the "Count the Santas" contest, possibly taking home your favorite Santa from the store's collection. There will be refreshments.

Old Town Mission Christmas Dinner

The Old Town Mission's 8th Annual Community Christmas Dinner will be held on Saturday.  This special annual event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Old Town Mission, 116 E. Pinal St. in Old Town Cottonwood. A variety of activities will take place during this wonderful celebration, including: Holiday Music, Traditional Christmas Ham Dinner, the distribution of Holiday Hams to families in need, gifts given to each child in attendance, and some surprises too. The public is invited and welcome to attend. 

New toy and gift donations under $20 are needed and will be collected during the month of December up through Friday, Dec, 19, and will be distributed to local children at the Annual Christmas Dinner.  Unwrapped, new toy donations may be dropped off at the Mission. 

There are many different volunteer opportunities with this event and its festivities.

Anyone interested in volunteering at this event is encouraged to call and sign up.

NAWBO: Go with Confidence

Vickie Bouffard, motivational sales speaker, coach, trainer and author of  "High Performance Results! A No Kidding Approach to Increasing Sales," will guide us to improving sales performance. Vickie created Quantum Performance training to promote sales peoples' confidence by developing their knowledge and mindset. The Sedona-Verde Valley chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) will meet from 11:30 to 1:15 for lunch at the Agave of Sedona. Rosalie's of Sedona will cater lunch and guests are welcome to attend.

The program will include member presentations by Kathleen Fleming, bookkeeper, Karen Reinhold, State Farm Insurance, and Sally Stronglight with Affordable Health Care. This month's featured corporate sponsor presenter will be Shelley Williams, Countrywide Bank, F.S.B.

Clarkdale's New Year's Eve Celebration & Ball Drop

For the second year, Clarkdale and Verde Valley residents will have the opportunity to gather with family and friends in Clarkdale on New Year's Eve to ring in 2009. Beginning at 8 p.m. this will be a fun-filled, family oriented, non-alcoholic, good old fashioned party for all ages. This year's celebration will feature live music performed by The Retros, horse-drawn carriage rides through holiday lighted downtown Clarkdale, face painting, a jolly jumper, games and much more. The lighted copper ball will drop at 10 p.m. for the early birds and again at midnight.

Ticket prices for the event are $5 advance purchase or $8 at the door for adults; $2 advance/$5 door for youth (2-12 years.), and children under 2 are free.

Hamburger dinner at VFW 6739

Dec. 19

VFW 6739, 277 W. 260, Camp Verde, will be hosting a dinner of hamburgers, steak fries and all the fixin's for $5. Dinner and Karaoke by Hedi will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Proceeds will go to Vets & Families Support.

Sunday Supper at VFW

Dec. 21

Sunday Supper at VFW Post 6739 at 277 W. 260, Camp Verde from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. Pork chops, mash potatoes and sides will be served for $5. Proceeds go to Cancer Research Fund.

Yavapai College Campuses Closed for Holidays

Dec. 25

Yavapai College campuses will close for the holidays Dec. 25- Jan. 1. College offices will reopen on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, for regular office hours of 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Spring Semester classes will commence Jan. 21. Registration for Spring Semester is ongoing. Interested students may register in person at any of the seven campus locations throughout Yavapai County or online at
