City manager vote Tuesday
Bartosh lone candidate remaining
The Cottonwood City Council Tuesday will consider offering the city manager's job to the police chief.
Doug Bartosh is the only remaining candidate for the post vacated with the sudden death of Brian Mickelsen last year.
Earlier, Acting Manager and City Clerk Marianne Jiménez withdrew from the race. The third finalist, Shane Dille, accepted a deputy manager position with Queen Creek.
The only other option for the council is to advertise for new applications.
The agenda calls for a "possible job offer" contingent upon negotiating an agreeable contract.
During his management interview, Bartosh told the council that if he was hired as manager, he would be able to relinquish duties as police chief within four to six weeks.
One of the other issues facing the council Tuesday is whether or not to maintain the post of Legal Services Coordinator after the board agreed to turn its legal business over to Mangum Wall Stoops and Warden.
The coordinator position was created to help manage an in-house legal department. The Flagstaff public law firm was hired after former City Attorney Johnny Guthrie resigned.
