Charles E. Lounsbury Jr.

Charles E. Lounsbury Jr., 83, of Sarasota, Fla., died Jan. 10, 2008. He was born Aug. 2, 1924, to Charles E. Lounsbury Sr. and Ethel Woodland Lounsbury in Oak Park, Ill.

He retired in 1982 after 32 years as a claims representative for the Social Security Administration in Sarasota, Fla.

He was a decorated gunner for the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. During the early 1950s ha was an inspector for AAA where he traveled North America and Europe extensively. He was a highly decorated volunteer at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. He was an avid model railroader and belonged to Sarasota Model Railroading Club.

Charles loved his family, travel, classical music, poetry, trains and a good laugh.

He is survived by his sons Earl K. (Roslyn) Lounsbury of Sarasota, Charles E. III (Wendi) Lounsbury of Cornville; daughter Elizabeth (Larry) Magill of Sarasota; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Jan. 15 at Sarasota Baptist Church.
