Mobile burns in Cornville
A single-wide mobile home with an addition burned to the floor boards Tuesday morning in Lower Oak Creek Estates. The Verde Valley Fire District received a call about 6:40 a.m. that the home on Seybert Drive was on fire. When crews arrived heavy black smoke was pouring from the rear of the mobile home. The occupants are apparently moving and were not at home at the time, but a dog at the house got out alive.
The damage to the home was so complete that the exact cause of the fire was not determined. Assistant Verde Valley Chief Mike Flummer said, however, that investigators determined no foul play was involved.
The automatic aide system also brought fire crews from Cottonwood, Montezuma-Rimrock and Sedona to the residential fire.
The structure dates from the late '70s. Damage is estimated at about $40,000.
