Gloria Arlene Keever 1925 - 2008

Gloria Arlene Keever, 82, died Monday, June 2, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kan.

She was born Sept. 16, 1925, at Lewellen, Neb., the daughter of Ernest Otto Bernard and Mary A. (King) Laban.

She was a 1942 graduate of Lewellen Rural High School.

She had resided in Lewellen, Neb. She then spent 12 years in Cañon City, Colo., and three years in Cottonwood before moving to Liberal, Kan., in 2004.

She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Liberal. While in Cañon City, CO, she was the director of the Red Bow Tie Band, a kitchen band that played for area nursing homes. She was an accomplished pianist and organist and served as a church organist for years.

She was married to Carl Robert Rohlfing on April 29, 1945, at Lewellen, Neb. He preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1984.

On March 28, 1987, she married James R. "Jim" Keever at Lewellen, Neb. He survives.

Other survivors include a son, David Rohlfing and wife, Karen, of Bartlesville, Okla., a siste,r Inez Flamig of Sidney, Neb., two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Joan Rohlfing, and an infant sister-Nancy Caroline Laban.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Liberal, Kan., with Rev. John Teeter presiding. A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Ash Hollow Cemetery near Lewellen, Neb. and a memorial service will be held later in June in Lewellen, Neb.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Paul United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
