George J. Lay Sr. 1927 - 2008

George John Lay, Sr., age 81, of Cottonwood, died May 30, 2008. He was born to David John Lay and Elizabeth (Bessie) Rozen Lay on April 26, 1927, and was raised in Flagstaff.

He served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II and was stationed in Panama. For 60 years, he was married to the late Nada Foy Lay.

He is surviving children are Linda (Ken) Persky, David (Catherine) Lay, George (Janice) Lay, and Debbie (Dan) Stewart; his brother, David Jerome Lay; his sister, Mary Lay Hunter, 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Cottonwood Stake Center, 1377 Hombre Drive, Cottonwood, with a visitation one hour prior to the funeral service. A graveside service with military honors will be 2:30 p.m. in the Veterans section of Flagstaff Citizen's Cemetery.
