Main Street Bistro opens in Cottonwood
Saucier specializes in soups, sauces
Chef Arthur Patrick and his wife, Kate, have opened their first restaurant - Main Street Bistro - at 202 N. Main St. in Cottonwood.
"It's our first restaurant," Kate said, "but I've managed restaurants for years, and he's been a chef for almost 40 years.'
Business has gotten off to a good start since the Bistro opened in November. "The word is out," Kate said. "Sunday they were lined up outside."
Arthur trained for five years under five European chefs, and his specialty is soups and sauces. The couple sold gourmet soup for years in stores, including Bashas', New Frontiers, Mt. Hope and Weber's IGA in the Village of Oak Creek. Kate said the demand for their soup became too great, and the couple decided to back off until such time as they can prepare the soups on a large scale.
Kate said she and Arthur plan to move to Nashville to open their second restaurant. They will keep the Cottonwood restaurant open as they expand. "We want to do this around the nation," she said.
Another project they have in mind is to venture into mail order and Internet sales. "We're going to be doing a gourmet catalog," Kate said. The catalog will offer many items, including soups, sauces, chutneys, sweet rolls and, especially, Arthur's signature dipping sauces.
For the Bistro, Kate said they will put in two patios this spring.
Hours are Tuesday through Sunday with breakfast served from 7 to 11 a.m. and lunch from 11 to 3 p.m. Dinner is served only Wednesday through Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m.
"The dinner menu changes every week," Kate said. "We do lunch specials, and we do crepes for breakfast."
The menus offer a good variety at reasonable prices. Kate said the Main Street Bistro offers gourmet food at Cottonwood prices.
