Sedona’s Enchantment Resort will host the first ever “Taste of the Verde Valley” on Sunday, Feb. 8, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. the wine tasting will feature local wineries, while raising money for the Verde Valley Wine Consortium.

The movers and shakers behind the Verde Valley Wine Consortium have already demonstrated they are a force to be reckoned with.

In the few short months since the group formed, they have pulled together communities, established a new home and laid the groundwork for what they see as a long-term investment in a sustainable, homegrown economy.

The only thing they have been lacking is financial wherewithal to carry out their larger mission.

Now they are addressing that issue.

On Sunday, Feb. 8, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Consortium will have their first fund-raiser, to be called "Taste of the Verde Valley," hosted by Enchantment Resort in Sedona.

The Sunday tasting will include wines from seven Verde Valley wineries, along with breads from the Orion Bread Company, cheese and fruit. Wines from some of the southern Arizona wineries will also be available for tasting.

Described as a "tradeshow style" event by Enchantment Beverage Director Steve Bailey, the tasting will also include booths staffed by the consortium partners such as Sustainable Arizona and Cottonwood's Old Town Association.

Admission is $25 per person with $20 going to the Consortium. Memberships to the consortium will be available, as will the VVWC's new T-shirts.

Enchantment Resort will also offer a weekend package for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which will include a meet and greet with representatives of the vineyards, winery tours and a six-course Wine Maker's Dinner, with each course paired to a local wine.

The Wine Maker's Dinner, which will take place on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m., will also be available separately.

Participating Verde Valley wineries include Alcantara, Freitas, Oak Creek, Caduceus, Page Springs, Javalina Leap and Jerome Winery.

For additional information or weekend packages, the Wine Maker's Dinner or other information contact Steve Bailey at (928) 204-6188.

Enchantment Resort is located at 525 Boyton Canyon Road in Sedona.
