Good hair days for Village pets
The Village recently went through a long period without a local pet grooming service. I can remember shaving one day.
With my electric razor in hand, I glanced slyly over at our slightly disheveled standard poodle. She flashed back a look that clearly said, "Don't even think about it, Buster."
Fortunately man and beast have been saved by the Village Grooming shop now located on Hwy 179 across from the outlet mall in the rear building of Ranch House Square.
Offering complete grooming services for all dogs and cats, Village Grooming is the joint venture of Ron Stocksdale and his fiancée, Barbie Townsend.
Ron's background is in construction. He originally came to Sedona in 1984 to participate in building the Enchantment Resort after which he left the area for work in other parts of the country. The beauty of Sedona kept calling him back, and he is now the foreman for a large construction company here.
Barbie has a 20-year background in pet grooming. She recognized the community's need for a grooming service, and Ron volunteered to build it. He also agreed to serve as the shop manager allowing Barbie to continue with her own practice. Together they have created a state of the art facility.
Ron has always loved animals. As a result, his highest priority in building the shop was the comfort and safety of his quadruped customers. He even installed a special outdoor area of artificial turf with a built-in cleaning and drainage system for his clients' pleasure.
Barbie has staffed the shop with two full-time groomers, Brenda Tatum and Carole Chevalier who have a combined experience of over 38 years in the grooming arts. The facility features an extensive array of quality hypoallergenic grooming products for every need, and gentle treatment is guaranteed. Pickup and delivery is also available.
Thanks to Ron and Barbie, we no longer have to drive our furry friends through an ADOT obstacle course for a haircut and bath. Village Grooming can make them look and feel like a million bucks right here.
