Alleged bank robber pleads not guilty
The Cottonwood man who's alleged to have held up the Cottonwood Chase Bank on Christmas Eve has pleaded not guilty.
Richard John Rothwell entered the plea before Judge William Kiger Tuesday morning at Early Disposition Court held in Prescott.
Rothwell, 39, was arrested at Cliff Castle Casino later the same night after the robbery. A search of his house and vehicle recovered cash and other evidence.
He was booked in the county jail in Camp Verde and charged with marijuana and paraphernalia offenses Dec. 24. Friday after Christmas, new charges alleged theft, two counts of robbery and burglary in the 3rd degree.
Kiger scheduled Rothwell for a case management conference Feb 9 before Judge Warren Darrow.
