Charles N. 'Charley' Piper 1936 - 2009
Charles N. "Charley' Piper, 72, of Cottonwood died Jan. 19.
After winning a battle with throat cancer in 1975, it returned on Dec. 31, 2007. He fought it valiantly all of 2008. While surrounded by his loving family he made his journey to Glory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Della Piper-two brothers, Earl and Ira Piper, a nephew Kent Piper and a grandson, Steve Phelps.
He was a devoted husband of 50 years to his wife Mary (Kurtz) Piper and a cherished father to his children, Denny, Jody, Clark, Clint and Teri; also eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 9 a.m. in the Westcott Funeral Home with the funeral following at 10 a.m. Immediately following the service, there will be a potluck at the Clemenceau Museum and a time of remembering and honoring "Cowboy Charley".
