Clarkdale Council to meet Tuesday
The Clarkdale Town Council will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The consent agenda and information reports are the only items on the meeting agenda.
The consent agenda is a means of expediting routine matters that must be acted on by the council.
One item under the consent agenda is approval of the 2009-2010 Intergovernmental Agreement between Cottonwood and Clarkdale for police dispatch services. Cottonwood has been contracting with Clarkdale for 24-hour, centralized police dispatch.
The IGA will cost Clarkdale $540.75 more per quarter this year than last. The quarterly fee has been increased from $31,310 for last year to $31,850.75 for this year.
A facilities use agreement with Yavapai College is also on the consent agenda. Clarkdale has had a facilities use agreement with the college since 2007. To support professional development for staff members, Clarkdale will become a sponsoring partner to the college.
To that end, the town will agree to exchange the use of town facilities in return for four scholarships for staff to attend business management courses. The courses normally cost $174 each for three units.
Another facilities use agreement will be approved with the Clarkdale Chamber of Commerce. The chamber has contracted with the town since 1995 for use of town facilities.
Cost to the chamber has been increased to offset increases in utility charges to the town. The charge for the auditorium will go up to $16.50 from $15. The Men's Lounge fee will increase from $4 to $4.50, and the Ladies Lounge fee will increase to $2 from $1.50.
The consent agenda also will approve a resolution to appoint Barbara Van Wye to fill a vacant seat on the Parks and Recreation Commission. Her term will end Sept. 30, 2011.
Van Wye has experience in Clarkdale as a volunteer on focus groups, and she currently serves as a Meals On Wheels driver.
