The crusade for Phase I continues
Many of you have been waiting for this column and have been very patient while we have worked closely with Noble Heritage Builders, who have been absolutely magnificent to work with.
Before I go any further I would like to stress the importance of each and every one of you and all you do to help the animals.
Thank for your patience and dedication. We are very thankful for everything you have done, but the animals need you; we need you, now more than ever.
There will be many ways to help us finish funding the new Verde Valley Humane Society Adoption Center.
As you know we still need a little over $200,000 to complete the facility and get it ready for occupancy.
Not only will we continue our fundraising, grant writing and other special events, we will be giving you ways to remember the special people in your hearts.
While making a tribute to someone special, you will be helping us reach our goal in a way that everyone will see.
The ways to remember someone are numerous. You can memorize birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, engagements, graduations and of course "In Memory Of" and "In Honor Of."
Do you have other things that you would like to commemorate? We'd love to have those too.
If you would like to name rooms or kennels you will find all price ranges. I would love to see these areas named by the families or businesses.
Each area will be marked with a plaque and any provided pictures.
Lobby - $35,000
Educational/Meeting Room - $50,000
Retail Shop - $10,000
Grooming Salon - $15,000
"Kitty Korner" Play Area - $15,000
Get Acquainted Rooms - $20,000
Animal Surrender Room - $10,000
Dog Kennels - $5,000
Cat Condos - $3,000
Would you rather see something growing and thriving around the new facility or in the courtyard?
We will be offering beautiful trees, shrubs and plants each with their own commemorative plaque next to them.
Of course this greenery will be professionally irrigated and planted by landscapers.
How about a beautiful tree with your new baby's name and birth date the plaque? Watch the tree grow with your child.
Have you been married for many years? What about a well established tree to celebrate your love for each other?
There are so many ways to say something and you can be creative in your own way:
24" Evergreen box tree, $650
24" Deciduous box tree, $515
15- Gallon blooming tree, $250
15-Gallon deciduous tree, $220
15-Gallon shrubs, $220
5-Gallon shrubs, $100
1-Gallon flowering plants, $25
To enjoy the beautiful courtyard and outside of the facility all of these things will be necessary. What better way to say I love you, I remember you to someone?
Lining our entry and courtyard will be cement pavers and park benches. These pavers can be engraved just like the plaques that can be put on the park benches.
Engraved cement pavers 4x8: $90
Cement park benches: $600
Wooden park benches : $300
Would you like to sponsor a dog or a cat kennel each month? This will continuously support and help care for the animal while waiting for adoption.
These kennels and cat cages can be sponsored by individuals, groups, businesses, school groups or Clubs.
Anyone can be a sponsor and have a plaque in place. We can also put a business logo or picture on the plaque.
Dog and cat cages (please specify)
Individual sponsors (monthly), $25
Groups (monthly), $50
School groups monthly (monthly), $25
Clubs (monthly), $50
Businesses (monthly), $100
New mom with baby kennel, $50
Newborns/no mom kennel, $75
There are other ways to help us if you have in-kind services or products that you can provide.
Do you make cabinets or shelving that you would like to donate? Is your business selling flooring and you have some to donate?
We will be in need of new office furniture and living room furniture to set up our "Get Acquainted" rooms like homes. Is that a product you could donate?
Of course we need toilets, medicine cabinet or mirror, bathroom sinks, small and large refrigerators, chest freezer, office supplies, file cabinets and many more items. Gift cards would be a huge help.
Anything that can be donated to us will help cut the cost on the new facility. It may enable us to even build more than just Phase I.
To make a donation you can stop in the shelter located at 1502 W. Mingus or mail your choice to:
Verde Valley Society/Building Fund
1502 W. Mingus Ave.
Cottonwood, AZ 86326
You can also continue to support us by donating to our Thrift Store, the Good Buy Shoppe. The proceeds from the shop help fund the Verde Valley Humane Society.
Today I have given you many ways to help the animals at the Verde Valley Humane Society in the days to come and even now.
There is something for everyone and we hope that you have even more ideas.
Have you been over to the site to see the progress that has been completed so far? The walls are being erected as I am writing today.
The different crews working for Noble Heritage Builders are incredible to say the least. There progress has been amazing.
They are such a nice group of people to work with. It makes my job much easier.
When things are completed Doug Noble will have earned a huge gold star. He has been so patient and understanding while I make my decisions.
"Got Fleas?" No not the pesky little critters that invade our poor animals. I'm talking about Flea Market items.
The Verde Valley Dog Agility Club is hosting a huge Flea Market on June 20th and 21st and they could use your gently used items.
Please call (928) 639-4884 for delivery or pick up arrangements. Just leave a message and someone will get back with you as soon as possible.
This wonderful group of people is donating all proceeds from the Flea Market to the VVHS Building Fund.
Many of you know that we have been looking for a golf cart to go back and forth between the two facilities.
As you all know we don't have an excess of money and were hoping that we could get one donated to us.
Are you thinking, "What are the chances of that happening?" We heard many comments that meant just that.
Guess what exciting news I have for you? Someone "did" donate a beautiful golf cart to us.
A very special dog named Murphy has the most wonderful mom. We have always known that.
Well, Murphy's mom is the one that so generously donated the golf cart to VVHS.
Murphy, give mom a big lick and a thank you for us please. We just can't thank you enough either for picking such a special mom.
