Mobile burns in Cornville
Early Sunday morning, Verde Valley Fire District was dispatched to the call of a house fire in the 2600 block of Greaves in Cornville's Lower Oak Creek Estates.
Captain Mark Dixon reported a single-wide mobile was 50 percent involved in fire and that additional units were called to help after determining the occupant was safe. It became apparent that saving the home was not an option and incoming crews were advised that the attack would be defensive. Additional units arrived from Sedona, Cottonwood, and Montezuma Rimrock districts, with a rehab unit from Verde Valley Ambulance.
A TIP volunteer was also called to assist with the needs of the homeowner. Utilities were secured, and fire was extinguished without damage to surrounding structures or vehicles. The mobile home itself was declared a total loss. Cause and origin of fire are under investigation.
