Cottonwood's Chili King

The Sedona/Verde Valley Association of Realtors held a Chili Taste Off on Tuesday evening at the Blazin' M Ranch in Cottonwood. The rustic western atmosphere at the Blazin M' Ranch, located just outside of Dead Horse Ranch State Park, fit the occasion well as seven area restaurants competed in the categories of best chili and best cornbread. The event was a benefit for SVVAR Humanitarian Fund to help its members and associates who have fallen on hard times. Ultimately, the attendees judged Randall's Restaurant White Chicken Chili as the best, with Kurt's Main Street Café and Blazin' M Ranch hot on their heels. Winner of the cornbread category was Strombolis, followed by Blazin M' Ranch and Randall's Restaurant. LaBella Café, Grasshopper Grill and Murphy's Grill also participated in the competition. Music for the evening was provided by jazz duo Frost & Frost.
