Helen Viola Murphy 1919 - 2010

Helen Viola Murphy, 90, of Cottonwood died Feb. 3. She was born October 8, 1919 in Montgomery, New York, the daughter of Floyd and Matilda (McCann) Weed.

She was a graduate of Montgomery Elementary. She worked as a waitress at the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix for many years. She also worked at the fudge shop in Jerome for 2 years. Mrs. Murphy volunteered at Verde Valley Hospital for one year.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Her hobbies were playing golf, cooking, and dancing.

She was preceded in death by her husband Timothy J. Murphy and a son Donald E. Murphy. She leaves two sons, Timothy E. Murphy (Lorraine) of Decater, Texas, and John C. Murphy (Marjorie) of Sandy, Utah; daughters Julia M. Reynolds (Frederick) of Pittsford, Vermont, Helen M. Murphy of Cottonwood and Joan C. Menard of Braintree, Vermont; 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Burial will take place in the spring in the family lot in Rutland, Vermont.
