CORNVILLE -- Crews from the Verde Valley Fire District may have been a little late to the scene of a rollover on Cornville Road due to incorrect information, but plenty of help had already arrived.

Saturday, VVFD crews got the wrong information about the location of the accident, said to have been near the Cornville Market. The wreck was actually in the opposite direction on Cornville Road, a mile east of Page Springs Road.

When crews arrived, a late model Chrysler mini-van was lying on its right side.

Two cardiac nurses from Flagstaff Medical Center, a medical assistant who had witnessed the accident, plus two off-duty firefighters were already on the scene and working with patients.

According to witnesses, the accident seemed to happen in slow motion. The vehicle was traveling east on Cornville Road, when it veered to the opposite side of the road. The driver attempted to correct, but then rolled.

Both patients in the vehicle were wearing seatbelts.

Fire crews extricated the driver, but in order to get the passenger out of the vehicle, crews had to cut two seats out, and remove the patient through the rear of the vehicle. Both were transported to Verde Valley Medical Center for treatment.
