Ginger Posey 1914 - 2010

Ginger Posey

Ginger Posey

Ginger Posey passed peacefully, May 25, 2010, at home in Sedona, AZ.  Ginger was born in Leon, West Virginia, on Nov. 3, 1914, to Chester and Hattie Hill.

She married Arthur Knapp in 1934 and for 28 years they worked their farm near Groveport, OH, and raised 3 children.

In December, 1962, Ginger and Emmette “Tex” Posey were married and enjoyed six exciting years living in Germany and traveling across Europe.

After retirement they traveled throughout the USA in their RV visiting family, friends and historical sites of this great land.  Ginger possessed an endless desire to learn – by traveling, reading, taking music lessons at 50 plus and attending a local college while living in Alta Loma, CA.  Ginger’s sense of humor, her way of encouraging others, making family and friends a priority and her giving nature was what endeared her to so many and brought out the best in everyone around her.

Mrs. Posey was a member of the Sedona United Methodist Church. Her support of local and national charities was only surpassed by her belief in protecting our animals and planet through environmental protection.

She was preceded in death by her husband and son, James Arthur Knapp.  She is survived by her daughters Carol (Donald) Heinz of Sedona, AZ and Peggy Jo (Stan) Maybruck of Columbus, Ohio, Step-daughters Gayle Blackford, Plano, TX, Carolyn (Jim) Davis, El Dorado, CA, Marti (Ron) Willis, Bandera, TX,  step-son Dave Posey, Citrus Heights, CA and many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. Citrus Heights, CA.

Chaplain Don McMillan officiated at Ginger’s graveside service at Sedona Community Cemetery on May 29, 2010. Memorial donations to Ginger’s favorite charities:  Memorial donations in her name may be made to Gingers favorite charities:  Christian Appalachian Project, The Trust for Public Land, Fisher House (Helping Military Families), all local/national, animal rescue /shelters.)
