After a lot of work at home, it was off to the airport to try and get a better shot for the terminal than I had. Corky held down the home front whilst Merry Maids were doing their thing and some other workers scheduled to come in a little later. Stopped in at the terminal to talk with Mac about the shot he most wanted; Kathy volunteered to hold the cameras, hand me the one I wanted at any particular time and fly the ship whilst I was shooting and off we went. We spent about an hour getting slightly different views, angles and from various altitudes (6000' to 8500') and now I'm wading through 450 shots trying to get the best few. This is one I like and it is almost a direct south to north shot; Cathedral Rock is center foreground, the airport center slightly right, San Francisco Peaks above the airport. Oak Creek meanders along the right side of the airport mesa and goes down stream to the lower left of the photo and upstream into the canyons upper right. Enchantment Resort is just off the photo on the left in the red rock canyons (Boynton Canyon). Gives you a pretty good idea of the terrain and the airport ... a very fun place to live and fly out of.
I hope not a lot of people were watching us fly today; I think that from the ground it would have looked rather erratic with frequent high bank turns, climbing, diving and whatever; Kathy is one of a few non soaring pilots who can handle this type of flying and thanks for the help today Kathy. After I got home, Corky and I decided to head over to Market Place Café in the factory Outlets in VOCA, have a good dinner and listen to Anthony Mazzella play. It was a very nice evening and my cooking strike continues. Anthony is playing at Market Place café every Friday evening now so highly recommend you make the trek out to hear him.
Have a terrific weekend and I'll be back Monday morning.
Take care, be well and cheers!
The dream is gone,
be still my heart and
listen to the night wind's song.
