Jodie Filardo named project manager for Clarkdale Sustainability Park
Clarkdale Town Manager Gayle Mabery announced this week that Jodie Filardo has accepted a position as the Clarkdale Sustainability Park Project Manager.
"Ms. Filardo will hit the ground running on October 14, 2010, her first day on the job, by joining Mayor Doug Von Gausig for a presentation on the Clarkdale Sustainability Park at the Governor's Rural Economic Development Conference in Flagstaff," said Mabery.
Clarkdale sought a candidate with a strong combination of education, senior management experience, and a blend of public and private sector experience. We received over 60 applications for the position and Ms. Filardo was one of four candidates interviewed for the position. According to Mabery, "The level of experience and knowledge present in the applicant pool and in the candidates eventually selected for interviews was impressive."
Ms. Filardo's knowledge, education and experience exemplified what Clarkdale was looking for in this position. Having most recently served as the Economic Planner, then the Revenue Manager, for the City of Sedona, AZ, she was also the Vice President for Economic Development and General Manager of Yavapai College's Sedona Center for 4 years prior to her career with the City of Sedona. During her time in the Verde Valley, Ms. Filardo has worked on behalf of the region in organizations such as the Verde Valley Regional Economic Organization, Verde Valley Leadership, NACOG's Economic Development Committee, the Verde Valley Broadband Cooperative, the Verde Valley Agricultural Coalition and the Verde Valley Forum for Public Affairs.
Along with her public sector background, Ms. Filardo has private sector experience as a Chief Information Officer in the telecommunications industry; as an Applications Developer/Manager in the aviation industry; and, as a consultant working in high-tech manufacturing, finance, software development and strategic planning. She holds a BA in Economics from Stanford University, and an MBA from Arizona State University.
In addition to her wealth of knowledge and experience, Ms. Filardo brings with her a history of involvement with the CSP from its beginning stages, and a thorough commitment to our vision as "An Evolutionary Solution for a Sustainable Community". She helped facilitate Clarkdale's initial strategic planning process for the CSP and has served on the volunteer committee to develop the Scope of Work for the CSP Feasibility Study.
Ms. Filardo will be working under a contract for the grant-funded 18-month position. During the 18 months, she will have primary responsibility to work as a member of our team guiding the process for the implementation of Clarkdale's first comprehensive economic development strategy -- a strategy focused on encouraging industrial, commercial and natural facilities devoted to sustainable industries and environmental improvement.
"She will play a pivotal role in moving Clarkdale towards its future. We are confident in her ability to do so, and welcome her to the Clarkdale team," said Mabery.
