Healing Earth is a beautiful soundtrack by Anugama and I have been listening to it while working on the photo for this evening, morning, whatever. The music fits the mood of the colors in the caldera of the San Francisco Peaks that I shot this afternoon. Some of the burned out areas from the fire this summer appear as dark areas in the colors and as time goes on the forest will heal itself again. The shot was taken from about 12,000' msl from over SR 89 looking SW.
Bob and I had a blast this afternoon chasing clouds that looked so good but just weren't working and forget the beautiful cloud streets as they weren't working either. We got three reasonable thermals with lift over 500' per minute and one very good one that I took to near cloud base at 13,900 +/- feet over Snow Bowl. We had the engine off most of the time, but very glad we had one a few times. Most of the flight after we found the first thermal was above 11,000'... and we flew with four Ravens, a Swift and a Red Tail Hawk. We flew by four hikers who were on their way down from Humphreys Peak too. All in all a very great day and some new geology lessons to share with others on future flights. Bob, Corky and I finished the day with wraps and salads from the deli at Bashas on the deck whilst Q had a lizard (from the yard) for dinner.
It's into the weekend and hope you have a great one. Back Monday morning
