and that was Friday; some work in the morning, a stop at Bubbling ponds and I got some great shots of Canvas Backs and Mallards; thence home and relaxing time on the deck with Corky and Q whilst reading a new Grisham novel. I heard a lot of noise from a hawk in the wild (more or less) area in back and jumped a Coopers hawk that had just made a kill and was dining on it. He flew into a nearby tree and I was able to get some shots of him and then let him return to his meal. Later a few Gambels Quail came through the yard and I was able to get some full frame shots of them and they are among the best of species I have.
Later Corky had her appointment with Sheila and home for dinner. It was an excellent day and made the better with the images I got which are now residing on my computers and the offsite backup. This is the first Coopers hawk I've seen here this year and looks like they may be coming back early. For those with an interest it was shot at 1/640th second, f3.5, ISO 125, and 400mm lens. As always hand held.
Have a great weekend and perhaps a duck or quail will make it out tomorrow night.
