James William Rush died on Friday, June 24, 2011 at the age of 81 in Jerome, Arizona. Jim was born on July 18, 1929 in Chicago Illinois to Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Rush of Oregon, Illinois. On December 26, 1954 he married Angelyn Scalzo, in Chicago, Illinois.

He served as Fighter Pilot with the USAF in Korea, attended Lake Forest College, the University of Northern Illinois and graduate work at Syracuse University in New York. He began his career associated with Elcor Chemical of Midland Texas. His passion for development led the family to Austin, Texas where he was vice president of marketing for Walter Carrington Builder. In 1970, he was director of marketing at Rancho Bernardo and then Division director of marketing for their new communities division in San Diego, California. There, he was responsible for marketing the new towns of Rancho Bernardo, Laguna and Village Park.

In 1972-1976 he was marketing executive with Mitchell Energy & Development Corporation where he was responsible for all residential, commercial and industrial marketing and sales at The Woodlands, Texas. He was named Vice President of Marketing of Sugarland Properties Incorporated, for Gerald D. Hines Interests in Houston, Texas and served as President of MCO Properties in Fountain Hills, Arizona.

He went on to launch his own development company with projects in Ascutney, Vermont and Grand Cayman Island.

In 1973 he was the recipient of the “marketing man of the year” award from the National Association of Home Builders Sales and Marketing Council.

He and his wife Angie eventually relocated to Jerome, Arizona and operated a successful financial consulting business until 2009.

He is survived by his wife Angie and two daughters Shawn and Erin and three granddaughters Kendall, Chelsea and Merrill, his son in law Charles and preceded in death by his son, James Jr.
