“Ricky” Ricardo José Sánchez Sr.

“Ricky” Ricardo José Sánchez Sr. was born in Flagstaff, Arizona September 22, 1950 and graduated early from Flagstaff High School in 1968.

Ricardo served his country by enlisting into the United States Army right after completing high school in 1968. After successfully completing one tour, he re-enlisted where he was stationed at Fort Buckner, Okinawa Japan and served in the Vietnam War. He proudly received an honorable discharge for his commitment to his country.

Ricardo passed away while visiting his daughter in South Dakota, on March 1, 2011 at the age of 60.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Sr. and Refugia Sánchez, and brother James E. Hake. He is survived by his Aunt Ramona Otero (Tilly); his siblings Carlos, Romolo, Pedro Jr, Tina, Lisca, and Anna; and by his beloved adult children, his grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, as well as his extended family.

Rick was a kind and loving father and wonderful teacher. Daddy enjoyed life, making everyday joyful and giving generously of himself. We will remember him for his love of family, friends, and his strength. He will be deeply missed by all who love him dearly.

Services were held for Ricardo on Saturday, March 12th, 2011 in Flagstaff, Arizona.
