This week at Grace Lutheran
Grace Community Lutheran Church in Rimrock has Sunday Bible Study at 9:30 a.m., followed by Worship at 10:30 a.m.
The Scripture Lessons this week tell about the beginning and the growing of the church. (Acts 2:36-41, 1 Peter 1:17-25 and Luke 24:13-35). Early events at the very beginning just after Jesus resurrection are recorded for us. We also in these short verses have a fairly complete understanding of our basic Christian faith. We are told of the crucifixion and especially the resurrection of Jesus, which is central to our faith. Also included are references to the three parts of the triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, another central truth of Christianity.
And also we will hear in Peter how we are to understand the word or the Bible. Peter tells us that we are born again through the living and abiding word and that this word of the Lord remains forever. As Christians we believe that the Bible is God’s word and truth to us and for us. It has been around a long time now and continues to change lives, lots of lives all the time. Some people really misuse and even change the message so it is important that you study it for yourself.
I like to say it is like a conversation with God and we all would find that interesting. The bible is so much more than a book of history or religious instruction. It is the story of God and man and our failings and God’s solution to those failings and what a tremendous act of love that He chose to reestablish our relationship with Him. The Bible is a place to begin a relationship with God and learn the truth about Him. May it be a part of your life.
