Page Springs/89a rollover
PAGE SPRINGS -- Rescue crews were called to a one-vehicle rollover accident near Page Springs Road and 89A Monday just before 10 a.m. Verde Valley Fire crews found a four-door vehicle with severe damage, that had rolled over and landed on its wheels in the center median of the highway.
One occupant was in the vehicle. Airbags deployed, but the man had not been wearing a seatbelt.
A witness saw the car pass him, hit the road embankment near the left turn lane, fly through the air over the cross roadway and land 100 feet away into the median.
A retired paramedic stopped to help with the victim until emergency crews arrived.
Native Air was dispatched to fly the patient to Flagstaff Medical Center, a Level-1 trauma center. But, as the emergency crews were attempting to load the patient, he refused air transport. Crews then transported him to Verde Valley Medical Center for assessment and treatment.
