New member Shabbat at JCSVV on Friday
Shalom from the Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley. Erev Shabbat services begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, led by Rabbi Magal. This is the New Member Shabbat service, welcoming all those who joined the synagogue community in the past year.
Saturday morning, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m., all are invited to Torah study, beginning with a short discussion of the portion of the week: Lech Lecha, Genesis 12:1-17:27), about the biblical patriarch Abraham and matriarch Sarah who journeyed forth to be a blessing to all people. The main focus of study will be on how Joshua led the Israelites into the Promised Land. This study of the prophetic and historical books will continue all year. Potluck dairy/vegetarian luncheon follows the study session.
Sunday, Nov. 6, Religious School at 10 a.m. Rosh Hodesh group sponsored by the Women’s Havurah at 3 p.m. - an interactive exploration of traditional and contemporary ceremonies for women in celebration of the New Moon.
Wednesday, Nov.9, 8:30 a.m., egalitarian morning minyan. “Deli Day” - 11:30 a.m. Those who ordered their deli sack lunches can pick them up at the synagogue. Deliveries for groups by pre-arrangement.
