Busy month ahead at Sedona Library in the Village
There are many things that I like about working at Sedona Public Library in the Village (SPLV): driving scenic Highway 179 to Tequa Plaza, assisting patrons, and working with SPL staff and volunteers, just to name a few.
One of the highlights of my job is learning about the many services provided by the library.
If you’re not familiar with Interlibrary Loan (ILL), you’re missing out on a valuable resource.
We borrow books, audiobooks, videos, DVDs and CDs that are not available through the Yavapai Library Network from other libraries.
We can also obtain articles from magazines and journals that we do not own. You must have a Sedona Public Library card in order to request an item through Interlibrary Loan.
There is a $3 fee if the item comes from a library outside the state of Arizona.
Please search the Sedona Public Library’s Online Catalog prior to requesting an item from Interlibrary Loan.
Be sure to visit our current Rotating Artist Exhibit at SPL-V. Table runners, holiday wall hangings and embroidered holiday ornaments by Red Rock Quilters of Sedona and the Northern Arizona Stitchers of the Embroiders Guild of America will be displayed until Dec. 17.
An artists’ reception is planned for Wednesday, November 2, from 4 to 6 p.m. at SPL-V.
Some of the artwork and ornaments will be available for purchase.
A portion of all sales will be donated to SPL-V. You can do your holiday shopping and support the library at the same time.
The Friends of the Sedona Library invite you to participate in the Festival of Wreaths.
This event is sponsored by the Friends to raise money for your library. Your support is invaluable and may be in the form of a wreath, centerpiece, tabletop tree or a cash donation.
Those who donate a creation will receive one complimentary admission to the Preview Gala and Sale. Key dates are:
• Drop off creations: Friday, Nov. 11, Sedona Public Library: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. -- SPL in the Village, Suite C-102 in the courtyard of Tequa Plaza: 1-4 p.m.
• Preview Gala and Sale: Sunday, Nov. 13, Sedona Public Library, 3250 White Bear Road in West Sedona: 5-8 p.m.
• Tickets are $15 each or two for $25 and may be purchased in advance at SPL-V or the main library. Tickets also are available at the door the night of the event.
• Sale to General Public: Nov. 14 to Dec. 16 during regular library hours at Sedona Public Library, 3250 White Bear Road in West Sedona

The next Arizona Humanities Council book discussion is Monday, Nov. 21, at Sedona Winds, 405 Jacks Canyon Road. The program begins at 1:30 p.m.
Participants will discuss the “Age of Innocence” written by Edith Wharton.
Here is a brief plot summary as provided by the Arizona Humanities Council: “A well-born New Yorker is engaged to the ‘ideal’ companion but becomes attracted to his married cousin, conflicting with his puritanical values as well as society’s mores.”
Books are available at SPL-V. All programs are free and open to the public.
Stop by Sedona Public Library in the Village soon to view the art exhibit, pick up a book for the community discussion, learn how to request a book from ILL or purchase tickets for the Festival of Wreaths.
SPL-V is at 7000 State Route 179, Suite C 102 in the courtyard of Tequa Plaza. Look for the book returns facing Highway 179.
Please contact Cheryl Yeatts at 928.284.1603 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions.
Thank you for your continuing support of library services in the Village of Oak Creek.
