Smoke shop 'bath salts prosecution on hold
VERDE VALLEY -- Now it looks like the proposed criminal charges of sales of dangerous drugs at two Verde Valley smoke shops will not be immediately prosecuted.
Reviewing attorneys for the Yavapai County Attorney's Office have "declined" the submittals from PANT and the Special Crimes detail at this time.
The cases have been sent back to the agencies for further investigation.
Managing operator Christopher Donahue and three more employees were arrested by the agencies for selling bath salts and spice from the Dons Smoke Shop in Old Town Cottonwood and the Black Pearl smoke shop in Cornville.
Donahue, 22, and employees of the businesses, 22 year-old Mercedes Walsh, 21-year-old Alexander Boston and 22-year-old Mickey Larm were arrested and jailed.
Numerous charges were requested from the county attorney including possession of dangerous drugs for sale.
The four were released when the County Attorney's Office declined charges as filed.
