Red Tee Chatter: golf season in full swing
The golf season certainly went into full swing in April with event on top of event. A big thank you to Sandy Bruns, Candy Graham, Dot Forshee and Heather Risk for getting the scores together for all of the tournaments!
The highlight of the month was President’s Cup, the third major tournament of the year, in which participants played for the lowest total net score over two field days. Winners of Flight 1: Lori Zaun, Donna Cantello, Margi Honea; Flight 2: Judi Forrest, Marion Maby and Sharon Malkin; Flight 3: Dot Forshee, Inga Ano, Dawn Bush; Flight 4: Barbara Perry, Allene Muehler, Lois Rosenow, and Becky Rubin. The overall winner was Allene Richlie, from the 1st flight, with a net score of 132. Well done!
The ever-popular Ringers Competition took place over four field days in March and April, the last of which coincided with the President’s Cup. Players worked to improve hole-by-hole scores for gross and net prizes in four flights. Congratulations to all the winners!
The Interclub season began on April 3 with the first tournament at Antelope Hills. There was excellent participation from eight member clubs, and a few from OCC even gave up a ringers day to attend. While nobody found her way into the winners’ circle, it was great fun and capped by a great lunch. Watch for notice of the next event at Quailwood on May 22 and the following at Elephant Rocks on June 12.
Looking ahead to the month of May, the Match Play Tournament will be played Tuesdays and Thursdays, from May 15 to 29. Those awarded will be Champion, Runner-up, and two semi-finalists. Sign up in the pro shop by May 12.
The NAWGA Seniors’ Championship will be held at OCC on May 31st. The minimum age to participate will be 50 by the date of the competition. Champions will earn the low gross and low net scores in flights establish according to age group.
Entry fee is $60 and registration deadline is May 17.
